Calculates your floor area, applies waste, then converts the required area into full boxes.

Room shape, cuts, pattern direction, product packaging, and actual manufacturer coverage.
How it works
How this calculation works
Enter room dimensions or a known floor area.
The calculator applies your waste allowance to the measured area.
If you enter box coverage, RenoQuantix rounds the box count upward to a whole package.
Assumptions
What this estimate assumes
- The calculation estimates material quantity, not a cutting plan.
- Pattern direction, room shape, stairs, closets, and difficult cuts can change waste.
- Box coverage must come from the product you intend to purchase.
Example
Example: a 12 ft × 10 ft room
A 120 sq ft room with 10% waste requires 132 sq ft of flooring. If one box covers 22.5 sq ft, the package count is rounded up to the next whole box.
Practical tips
Before you buy
- Measure connected rooms separately if their shapes are irregular.
- Use the actual box coverage from the manufacturer label.
- For diagonal or highly patterned layouts, consider a larger waste allowance.
Calculator limits
Use the result as a planning estimate
RenoQuantix turns the measurements and product information you provide into a material estimate. Product specifications, local requirements, installation methods, site conditions, and measurement error can change the final amount you need.
When the project affects structure, safety, code compliance, or regulated work, confirm those requirements separately.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why does the calculator round boxes up?
Flooring is sold in whole boxes, so a fractional package cannot satisfy the calculated requirement.
Should closets be included?
Yes, if you plan to install the same flooring inside them.
Is 10% waste always correct?
No. It is an editable starting point. Layout and cutting complexity can justify more or less.
